Table numbers

With our overall library theme, it was an easy decision to use vintage books for table numbers. I made several trips to the Strand and the Housing Works Bookstore to find inexpensive used hardcover books in the colors that worked with our color scheme. The numbers were spray painted using stencils that we printed and cut out.

My own press!

I’m so excited to be the proud owner of a letterpress! When I found out that a friend was selling her letterpress, I jumped at the chance. It’s now sitting pretty in my office. I’ve been coming up with so many fun ideas for different projects since the purchase. Let the printing fun begin!

I had a blast planning and making our seating cards. I used actual library book cards and book pockets to extend the library theme. Each card included not just the guest’s name and table number, but also a short quotation about love or marriage. Researching the quotations was an unexpectedly calming activity. It’s so easy to get wrapped up in the craziness of wedding planning, and reading these inspirational words about love and marriage reminded me of why were were getting married in the first place.

Happy Easter!

Here are Easter cards I made using colorful Japanese masking tape. I got the initial inspiration from Creature Comfort blog.

As I mentioned in a previous post, our wedding took place at the beautiful landmark building of Brooklyn Historical Society. The reason I fell in love with this venue is the gorgeous second-floor library, lined with wooden shelves and filled with priceless old books. As a complete book nerd, I thought it would be the perfect setting for our ceremony.

The venue was the inspiration for many other elements of the wedding, including the vintage book ring holder. I found the used book of French poetry at the Strand and used a large round craft punch to cut out the round shape. Then I glued the edges of the pages together so they became one big solid block with a hollowed out well where the rounds were punched out. The last touch was to place the baking twines in the well and loop them around the rings.
